About Morgins and Portes Du Soleil.
• The Portes du Soleil is the name given to a collection of twelve interlinked skiing resorts in France and Switzerland. A single ski pass gives access to a massive 650 kms of pisted runs and innumerable off-piste areas serviced by 212 lifts. Most of the resorts are within two hours of Geneva and, apart from the purpose-built resorts such as Avoriaz, most are farming villages that have succeeded in retaining their charm and character despite their conversion into skiing towns.
• Morgins is one of the most attractive villages in the Portes du Soleil. It is small, intimate, full of traditional Swiss alpine charm, and the perfect choice for a summer or winter self-catering holiday. Only 75 mins from the airport, it is very easily reached by car (or train with a taxi from Aigle). As soon as you arrive, you are aware of the character and friendliness of the village. It is still a farming village and lies in a quiet valley amid pine-clad slopes, staunchly resisting the lure of commercialism and high rise apartment development. It has a dozen restaurants, several excellent hire shops, a wonderful ski school and a nightclub.
